SUNSETS ON THE BAYOU

Wild and carefree, blazing glories and amazing stories…

We were travelling back to New Orleans from Laurel Mississippi in the summer,

the sun had started to make her lazy descent west,

on an Amtrak train that travelled a little too close to the water,

waters a little too restless for comfort.

Mother Nature decided she would make her presence felt,

adding to the dramatics of the moment.

She set the sky and water ablaze, with nothing to blight the allure of her journey.

The lower she got, the redder she became and I was Icarus,

wandering too close to the sun yet being kissed by an angel.

A most wonderful sight to behold.

Sunsets on the Bayou ought to be a wonder of the world.
